David McAvoy

Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer

David McAvoy joined Teva as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer in March 2024.

Dave is an experienced legal and compliance leader with three decades of experience in the biotech and pharma industry.

He was most recently General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Fresh Tracks Therapeutics, an immunology biotech, and before that served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Endocyte, a nuclear medicine oncology company. Dave helped lead the acquisition of Endocyte by Novartis AG. Previously, Dave spent over 25 years at Eli Lilly and Company holding numerous global leadership roles in legal, policy and business. Among other positions, he served as General Counsel of Emerging Markets, General Counsel of the Neuroscience Business Unit, and General Counsel of Oncology, GI, Diabetes, and Women’s Health. He also led the FDA policy group for Lilly Global Regulatory Affairs and later ran business development and strategic alliances for an Elanco Animal Health subsidiary.

Dave received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Notre Dame, his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from Indiana University.

Dave is based in the United States where he also serves on several charitable and for-profit biotech boards.
