Today’s career marketplace is fast-paced and vibrant, a space that is rapidly changing. To meet its demands, Teva has launched Twist, an innovative AI-based talent platform enabling employees to accelerate their growth and own their careers through an accessible and personalized marketplace of opportunities. As emphasis shifts from job roles to job skills, Twist enables all employees to develop their potential and gain new expertise on the job. Employees use the Twist technology to identify their skills, interests and development aspirations, supported by AI and software tools. The platform then matches skills and career ambitions to short-term projects, networking and learning opportunities and open positions available at Teva. Meet some of the people involvedMatthew Parker has worked at Teva for 14 years, providing global support for content management systems and applications. “I was interested in taking part in Twist as soon as I heard about it, to expand my technical expertise, modernize my skill base and learn some new things. The platform does a really good job matching your skills and interests with available projects, right away there were a lot of options for me to look at.” Matthew got involved in a project to help develop the R&D Global Analytical Forum (AFM), which is the platform for Teva’s R&D analytical community, designed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. Under the leadership of Yousif Ayoub, R&D Analytical Development Manager at Teva Kfar Saba, and Paul Hughes, R&D Analytical Team Manager at Teva Larne, Matthew assisted in creating a more dynamic and collaborative space for the forum on Teva’s communities’ pages. “Yousif and I are chemists, we do not have an IT background,” says Paul. “The forum has been running for several years but it came to a point where we needed to bring in an IT expert to gain their insights and ideas. That’s why we put the Twist project together.” They’ve both been very pleased with the progress so far. ”Matt has come up with some really good ideas that we’ve been able to develop further,“ says Paul. Having a different perspective has also been invaluable, according to Yousif. “Paul and I are analytical people, and we know what we like but we wanted other people to come with their ideas. We see things one way but someone from outside will see different things. Once Matt came in, he started coming up with ideas and it was very interesting - it was exactly what we were looking for. Without Twist, I’m not sure we could have done this.” They all agree that Twist is a great way to break down silos within the company. And a way to gain valuable knowledge for deeper understanding. “You learn about what other teams are doing inside of Teva and gain understanding of a different part of the business that you're not working in day to day” says Matthew. “We are a big organization and Twist is a great way to interact with other members of the Teva community, to find out what other people do and gain some of their expertise”, says Paul. “It’s a great way of starting conversations.” “This system is easy to work with and will bring big benefits,” Yousif confirms. “At the end of the day, you see real results and that’s what counts.” Twist is designed to feed into a new dynamic way of working, equipping employees with the hands-on experience and expertise to forge their own paths. “The need to continually refresh skills and stay relevant for the future of work should be top of mind for everyone,” says Ravit Eshed, VP, Head of Talent Management at Teva. “This isn’t simply because of rapid technology, innovations and automation, the entire concept of work is evolving quickly. The disruption brought on by COVID-19 even further crystalized an urgent and complex global employment challenge – how do we enable people to thrive in the new context and prepare them for the future of work in ways that considers individuals, businesses and communities.” Twist is one such enabler.
